Crimes Unit

Superintendent Crime Simpson Deidenang

The Nauru Police Force Crimes Unit employs highly trained and experienced investigators across it's sub-units: Criminal Investigations (CIU), Domestic Violence (DV), Drugs, Cybercrime, Assault, Theft and Forensic and Transnational Crime (TSU).

The main focus of the Crime Units (CU) is on developing intelligence, and investigations. This intelligence supports both the Nauru Police Force uniformed operations and prioritised criminal investigations.

Officers work closely with partners including the Prosecutions office and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

Over the past year, our crime prevention and investigation work has resulted in a 34% increase in asset recovery and disruption.

We aim to keep people safe by preventing harm to both individuals and communities, by increasing the capacity and resilience of neighbourhoods vulnerable to criminality, reducing re-offending and preventing crime.

This includes hosting the regular Radio Nauru show "Police Beat" to engage and educate communities on a range of crime prevention topics in Nauruan language.

We work with partner agencies to detect offenders and strive to protect the most vulnerable by frustrating, disrupting and dismantling groups involved in criminal activity.

"My team and I are proactively at YOUR service, 24/7. Let's work together to make Nauru a safer place."

Call 110 in an emergency, or contact the Crimes Unit direct on 557 2979.

Nauru Police Force's Public Prosecutor and Police Liaison assists in capacity building and development in terms of legal training, conducting prosecution file checking for evidential sufficiency, advising the Commissioner of Police and the Nauru Police Force on all relevant matters.
