Commissioner of Police Iven Frank Notte

Commissioner's Welcome

Welcome to the Nauru Police Force.

As Commissioner, I am very proud of the transformational work Nauru Police Force has undergone in the last two and a half years, most of which has occurred with the backdrop of a global pandemic.

What this time has meant for Nauru Police Force is an opportunity to go beyond just responding to everyday complaints and reports; it has been a time of GIVING BACK to OUR COMMUNITY through careful observation, discussion and listening.

It can be easy to get caught up in the "what" we are doing and sometimes lose sight of the "how" we are doing it. In this past year and a half, we have been able to take a step back and engage heavily with our community and stakeholders in everything through conversations and awareness programs which have been extremely valuable and will continue to strengthen the bond we have with our community, as we move forward in 2021 and into 2022 and beyond.

The development of the Nauru Police Force Strategic Plan 2020-2023 has been significant in guiding our practice and priorities, and helping us monitor our progress.

Our strategic plan in upheld by 'Four Pillars':

Pillar 1: Leadership and Organisational Improvement

Pillar 2: A Modern and Professional Organisation

Pillar 3: Community Policing and

Pillar 4: National Security.

Our plan is on track, and with many of our organisational goals and objectives already completed, we look forward to setting more ambitious targets for the coming year.

Nauru Police Force has made significant investments in plant and equipment as well as information technology, replacing outdated platforms and introducing new systems. Purchases of vans and trailers for mobile traffic and other operations, Go-Pro cameras and drones for Police operational duties, safety uniforms for Operational Frontline and Response units, upgraded office equipment and communications makes our jobs safer and more efficient, productive and professional.

However, the most significant improvements have been in the professional development of the Officers and staff who are now deployed to protect the community, through our enhanced Police training curriculum materials in a completely overhauled Learning and Development Unit.

It is my paramount priority to work together with our community and our partner agencies to keep the Republic of Nauru safe and secure, providing effective, accessible and responsive Policing services which are trusted, delivered ethically and meet the needs of the communities we serve.

Again, I welcome you to the Nauru Police Force, guided always by our nation's motto of "God's Will First".
