Media Release (AusComm): Australia Awards Scholarship outcomes for 2019

The Australian High Commission is pleased to announce Australia Award Scholarship (AAS) and Australia Award Pacific Scholarship (AAPS) outcomes for the 2019 intake.   Nineteen Nauruan scholars have been awarded the prestigious Australia Awards scholarships for study commencing in 2019.  Nine of these will study at universities in Australia and ten in Fiji.
 
These scholarships aim to build skills and develop knowledge that contribute to economic and human development in Nauru. This year's awards include two special Hammer DeRoburt Scholarships in honour of Nauru's 50th anniversary of independence.  The Awards that were presented to scholars by H.E. President Baron Waqa MP and the Australian High Commissioner Angela Tierney at the Australia High Commissioner's residence on 19 December 2018.
 
Each year, the scholarship program receives a large number of applications. The 2019 scholarship intake attracted a highly competitive field of 127 applications.  The successful scholars will be studying in a range of fields including accounting, engineering, education, health, environment, law and public sector management.
 
The Australian High Commission would like to congratulate the successful candidates and sincerely thank the Government of Nauru for its continuing support to the Australia Awards scholarship program.  Scholarship awardees for 2019 are as follows:
