CORONAVIRUS UPDATE by His Excellency President Lionel Aingimea, MP

CORONAVIRUS UPDATE

by

His Excellency President Lionel Aingimea, MP

Saturday, 25 June 2022

In today's update, His Excellency President Lionel Aingimea says the accumulative statistics as at end of Friday, 24 June, are as follows:

-             311 new cases

-             1,472 active cases

-             961 tests done yesterday (Fri 24 June)

-             6,140 tests done this outbreak

-             4 in the hospital Acute Care Unit

-             1 moderate/severe case (missed dialysis treatment)

-             0 cases on ventilator

-             29 houses across all districts are in isolation with 1,325 occupants.

No new admission to the Acute Care Unit (ACU).

24 per cent, or approximately 1 in 4 people tested are positive.

The government quarantine transit stations are currently holding 311 people while some opt to home isolate.

The Budapest has 200 occupants and the Menen has 111.

Special Isolation facilities are available for essential workers from health and police.

A drive-through vaccination station for children 5-11 years commenced today, Saturday 25 June, at the Aiue Boulevard, from 12-7pm.

Parents and guardians are reminded that children who have not had COVID can be vaccinated immediately. There is no harm and there may be benefit to your child if they receive the vaccine and then get COVID soon after.

If your child has already been infected with COVID during this outbreak, you can wait until late September for the 1st dose and 2nd dose 3-4 weeks later, before the end of October.

All children should receive their 2nd dose 3-4 weeks after the 1st dose.

If you are positive, please isolate for 13 days and until you have had three days without symptoms before ending your isolation.

You can self-isolate at home but if you are not able to or don't feel safe to isolate at home, you can request to isolate in Quarantine Accommodation where there are health staff and other support available.

Sanitise, wear a mask, keep your distance, stay home unless for essentials.

More RAT kits will arrive and the government is thankful to everyone who has done a test and reported the results. This helps the Taskforce track where we are at in this outbreak.

Last night, Friday 24 June, police went around closing some shops because there were more than three people inside the store. This was not a curfew measure. The public is advised that only three people are allowed inside a shop at any one time to minimise gatherings and the spread of COVID.

Shop owners must remind customers of this otherwise police will close the business operations

Call 192 to register your results, both positive and negative results. The lines may be busy due to the overwhelming number of calls, however, keep calling and your call will be answered.
