CORONAVIRUS UPDATE by His Excellency President Lionel Aingimea, MP Monday, 27 June 2022

CORONAVIRUS UPDATE

by

His Excellency President Lionel Aingimea, MP

Monday, 27 June 2022

In today's update, His Excellency President Lionel Aingimea says the accumulative statistics as at end of Sunday, 26 June, are as follows:

-             164 new cases

-             2,392 active cases

-             300 tests done yesterday (Sun 26 June)

-             8,037 tests done this outbreak

-             8 in the hospital Acute Care Unit

-             3 moderate/severe cases (2 adults with underlying illness, 1 child with high fever)

-             0 cases on ventilator

-             All other cases are stable and will be discharged soon

Fifty-three per cent, or approximately 1 in 2 people tested are positive.

The government quarantine transit stations are currently holding 324 people; 210 people are isolating at the Budapest and 114 at the Menen.

It has been reported that some occupants of these stations have vandalised the showers and rooms. Police will look into these cases.

Please refrain from damaging the quarantine facilities. We must take care of the rooms for the next occupants.

The total number of houses around the island that are in lockdown is 424 with 1,930 residents. The government is offering cartons of water and noodles, and the Taiwan Technical Mission is providing eggs to these houses in lockdown. The delivery teams will reach you in due time, please be patient.

As of Saturday 25 June, 351 children aged 5-11 received their vaccination at the Aiue Boulevard.

Entry is at the Aiwo tennis court where children will undergo COVID test before vaccination.

Get your child vaccinated. There is no harm and there may be benefit to your child if they receive the vaccine and then get COVID soon after.

If your child has already been infected with COVID during this outbreak, you can wait until late September for the first dose and then take the second dose 3-4 weeks later.

There are still reports of people that have tested positive leaving their homes and that some people are starting to gather in groups and socialising.

There is a lot of virus spreading in the community and we need everyone to help slow the spread so we protect the vulnerable.

Gatherings are not allowed. Only three people are allowed in any place such as shops.

We need to emphasise that at this time, everyone is asked to stay at home unless going out for:

- Essential work

- Buy food and supplies (buy online where you can)

- Get tested or seek medical care

- Emergencies

Wear a mask once you leave your house.

Important numbers to remember:

191 - to ask to have a COVID test done

192 - to report your positive test result if you did your own test

5565186 - to request for accommodation at the quarantine stations if you cannot self-isolate at home
